This larger body of energy is infinite and contains everything we need for good health, fulfillment, joy, abundance and more. However as we are exposed to the beliefs of our families, friends and culture, we usually take on the fear that underlies these beliefs and our bodies, minds and hearts begin to close, often without us being aware what we are doing. We take on beliefs that life is hard, that we have to compete for limited resources, that there are people who we have to protect ourselves from, etc. We enter into relationships and our hearts break, we lose loved ones as they pass on, we have difficult work experiences, we have children and are responsible for their well being, we had dreams for our lives that did not happen. All of these change how we respond to life and we lose the innocence and openness we had as children. Do you remember what it felt like to be fascinated by life before you even knew the meaning of the word 'fascinated?' So much around you was new, and you were full of questions and excitement. I love being at the airport and watching the young children totally in awe of the airplanes while the 'businesspeople' seem bored and restless. I love how children laugh, that loud squeal of joy, totally in the moment and not caring what people think. I enjoy the questions that children ask, not feeling self conscious that they do not know the answers. It is the process of acculturation, of taking on the fear based beliefs around us that has us concerned that we are not good enough and if we ask the wrong questions, do the wrong things or let people know who we are inside, we will get hurt. Believing this means we take the 'necessary' measures to protect ourselves, by responding to life and each other in ways deemed acceptable. We hold ourselves back, constricting our bodies, minds, emotions, breath and opportunities: our vitality and life force energy. This is saying 'no' to life. It is saying 'no' to good health, financial abundance, satisfying relationships with others and to our dreams. Then we manifest this in our lives and it reinforces our fear based beliefs that created the constriction in the first place. Fortunately the web of life, the larger picture never goes away. We can choose to open ourselves up to it and re-connect. The process of doing this is simple (I will share a process in a moment) but not always easy as it means experiencing the stuck places in your body, mind, emotions and life as you release them. In order to say 'yes' to life, it is important to feel where you said no and to change your deeply held constrictions into openness. This is not something most people are comfortable experiencing so keep in mind that what makes this technique work is not so much the technique itself but your willingness to stick with the process, regardless of how much avoidance behavior and painful 'stuff,' comes up. If you require assistance in working through whatever comes up as you go through this process, it may be helpful to talk with a close friend or healing professional. There are two ways to approach the technique I will share here. One is to go through your body organ by organ (or chakra by chakra) and the other is to allow your body to guide you in terms of where to work. Even though this technique is about saying yes to life which includes not only physical health but also life issues, you are a physical being embodying the divine in each and every cell. Within you is the 'answer' to whatever issues you may be facing. Likewise every issue, challenge or difficulty in your life is reflected somewhere in your physical body. Fortunately this makes it very simple to work through just about anything in your life using techniques such as this one. I will share the second way of using this technique (allowing your body to guide the process). If you wish to go through your body organ by organ or in some other way, just adapt the technique as needed. Make sure you have some for yourself when you will not be interrupted by family, work, etc. Sit comfortably or lie down. Allow a few minutes to relax. If you have experience with a specific relaxation or meditation technique, this is a good way to start. Then call upon your body to show you where you need to say yes to life. Remember that when you do this, you are not just working on your body; you are working through all your life challenges with your body as roadmap and guide. Notice what your body shows you when you ask; is there anyplace that feels tight, constricted, uncomfortable, tingly, etc.? If there are many places you can either ask your body to show you which one to address first or you can choose one to work with first. Wherever you decide to start, there are several approaches you can use. If you practice Reiki or some other healing modality you can work with that part of your body using energy healing. If you have the Energy Medicine Cabinet Awakening/Opening Attunement or one of the Chakra Attunements, or the Sexual Healing Attunement, any of those will work well with this technique. Techniques from Living Oneness Healing Sessions are also designed for this type of work. Breathwork is great too. If you are not familiar with breathwork you can just begin by breathing into the part of your body that you are working with, breathing slowly and deeply inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. If none of the above suggestions work for you, you can try this simple process: whichever part of the body you are working with, feel a lot of love and appreciation for it and just notice/witness what happens...if anything. The 'trick' is to feel love for this part of your body without judging it or needing/expecting anything to happen. If the healing is going to take place, it will happen without your needing to make anything happen. Just relax with your body and if it is ready to say yes to life you will notice various sensations as it opens. You may notice a temperature change in that part of your body; you may feel a tingling, or some other sensation. Often while your body is releasing it has to go through some feelings of tightness and contraction. These usually pass if you just keep feeling love towards the part of your body and continue to relax. Eventually as the restrictions clear, you will feel an openness and flow in your body and you will feel really good. Because you have addressed life issues/challenges as well as just physical health, you will often find that the situation(s) will resolve themselves or you will respond differently and the situations will not have the same effect on you. When practicing the above technique, it is best to start slowly and work with only a few body 'parts' per session. As you get used to the work and can handle the pace of change in your life, it is okay to make the sessions a little longer if needed/desired. If the pace of life changes is too much you will go into fear/resistance and this will defeat the purpose of doing an activity to say yes to life. Pace yourself and take loving, gentle care of yourself as you adapt to how life unfolds around you. It is natural to have heightened emotions, tiredness and some physical discomfort as you go through life changes and as you detoxify physically, mentally and emotionally, which often happens with this activity. Most of all, I encourage you to approach this activity, and life itself with a sense of adventure, curiosity and lots of humor. Thank you for the opportunity to share this activity with you. We all have so much in life worth saying yes to. May you discover and enjoy all of it! Peace, Linda White Dove
